"Wild Women"
Owl's Nest Productions (ONP709)

There's a lot of full-frontal attitude, as well as sly humor, in this collection of 14 bluesy country flavored songs sung with enthusiasm by Diane Van Deurzen and Lisa Otey. In other words, fans of these two women are gonna' love it.

Leading off with the defiant "Wild Women Don't Have The Blues" and its defiant reminder "Wild women never get the blues,"  you can be pretty sure men won't be getting much respect.

But the next song, "My Handy Man," does go on to extol the many fascinating talents of the singer's one and only squeeze. Then comes "Honey Pie," with more word play, this time connecting romance with food.

Further down the list is another advice song, "Don't Advertise your Man" warning ladies not be to be bragging too much about the happiness in their home lives. Otherwise, some freelance lover could come creeping around.

Just to stir up the mix a little are a few higher-profile picks, "Peal Me A Grape," "Send for Me," "Teach Me Tonight," "Route 66" and the tango combo of "Besame Mucho/Surrender."

Otey's distinctive piano is heard on all the tracks , joined by Heather Hardy's violin, Chip Ritter's drums and Harm van Sleen -- visiting guest artist from the Netherlands -- playing bass, dobro, pedal steel guitar and also singing back-up  vocals.
